Griffin Law is a audio specialist, percussionist, educator, and composer living and teaching in the Austin, Texas area. Currently, he operates as a freelance audio specialist in the marching arts, consulting with bands in Texas, Arizona, and California during their marching band and indoor percussion seasons. Griffin also serves as the Audio Caption Manager for the Sacramento Mandarins. He began working with the Mandarins in the record-breaking Drum Corps International 2023 season, where the organization received an all-time high placement of 6th place. When not working with bands during the Fall season, he is also active in the pageantry arts judging community and has adjudicated for the Arizona Marching Band Association, Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association, and Winter Guard Arizona.
Previously, Griffin has served as a collegiate professor at Paradise Valley Community College and The University of Arizona, teaching courses in electronic music, sound design, and leading CrossTalk, an electro-acoustic ensemble that focuses on creating new works for live electronic music performance. Griffin maintains an active private lesson studio, educating students on both percussion skills and electronic music skills, primarily through Ableton Live. As a teacher and composer for the electronic and percussion arts, Griffin focuses on providing students with experiential performances. His programs flow seamlessly to provide the audience with a cohesive experience in his concert programs. His original compositions blur the lines of percussion and multi-media but strive to remain accessible to the public, creating space for classically trained musicians to have works with low-barrier entry to incorporating technology into their performance practice.
Griffin received his Master of Music Performance Degree from Valdosta State University and his Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Georgia College and State University. He is currently a member of the Vic Firth and Zildjian Co. Education Teams.
